infographic of Embracing Diversity - understanding differences in population by generation

In this day and age, I can't help but wonder why so many people struggle with those who are different. How can we not be a more accepting people? Why don't more of us embrace diversity? February is National Black History Month and the Chinese New Year. These are two cultures that have brought so much character and depth and breadth to what is America. Why is it so hard for so … [Read more...] about Why is it so hard to embrace diversity?

Recognizing Chinese contributions during Chinese New Year 2021 When I was in the middle of 8th grade (see photo), my family moved from my beloved town of Harrodsburg, Kentucky to Danville, Virginia.  This was the forth major move and relocation for me.  And, I would be entering my sixth new school.  It was another traumatic move for me.  Yet, as with all … [Read more...] about A First Dinner at a Chinese Restaurant Can Influence Baby Boomers for Life

December 8, 2020 by Marcia Mantell

rooms in your financial house second floor

December can be such a complicated time of the year.  The holidays are both stressful and enchanting.  Things at work should be winding down, but often amp up to get a jump-start for the next year.  Add to the mix this year: holidays during COVID-19. Now what are we up against? What is a sane person to do?  It seems that everyone has decided to decorate … [Read more...] about Decorate the Rooms in Your Financial House

Marcia's Retirement Kitchen

What’s Cookin’?

If your kitchen is anything like mine, it’s the place everyone gathers to talk about their day, share special moments, and ask important questions. And to see what’s cooking.

For me, there is a strong connection between preparing meals and planning retirement. Both need certain ingredients, recipes to follow, and getting the timing just right.

My motto to live by: If you can make a lasagna, you can create a plan for retirement.

Look for an invitation to join me at my kitchen table where retirement is always on the menu.

More coming soon…
