Resources for Retirement

February 13, 2015 by Marcia Mantell

Many of the Boomers I talk to are having a challenging time getting started with their retirement planning. They are concerned about the financial side of not having a paycheck. But, to really get into the swing of planning for retirement, start with the fun! Think about how you want to spend your days and what you might do when you own all your time. Then, tackle the financial … [Read more...] about Resources for Retirement

Happy birthday graphic for 50th birthday

Have you embraced becoming your own pension manager? When I was 13 years old, then President Gerald Ford celebrated Labor Day by signing ERISA into law. ERISA is the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (pronounced a-ris-a). And it is one of the most sweeping and influential laws that affects every worker in the country. This year ERISA turns 50! And you’ve either … [Read more...] about ERISA Turns 50. Happy Birthday!

Planning for Life As A Retiree: It Doesn’t Just Happen

January 12, 2024 by Marcia Mantell

Back in 2015 I wrote a post asking, "What will you be doing in retirement?" It was geared more towards women, as it was an off-shoot to my first book, What's the Deal with Retirement Planning for Women. Since then, the topic has morphed. I find more and more people struggling with the very idea of retiring. Just look at our President and most of the Congress! In a nutshell, … [Read more...] about Planning for Life As A Retiree: It Doesn’t Just Happen

Keeping up a strong credit score is critical in retirement

June 15, 2021 by Marcia Mantell

illustration of a credit score

Retirement means freedom from a lot of the hustle and bustle of decades of a fast-paced life.  It’s time to take the exit ramp from that overheated, super-highway of life.  These are the best years of our lives.  And, we’ve earned the time to take it easy, and ease off the gas.  Sounds idyllic, doesn’t it?  But it turns out that taking it too easy can … [Read more...] about Keeping up a strong credit score is critical in retirement

Marcia's Retirement Kitchen

What’s Cookin’?

If your kitchen is anything like mine, it’s the place everyone gathers to talk about their day, share special moments, and ask important questions. And to see what’s cooking.

For me, there is a strong connection between preparing meals and planning retirement. Both need certain ingredients, recipes to follow, and getting the timing just right.

My motto to live by: If you can make a lasagna, you can create a plan for retirement.

Look for an invitation to join me at my kitchen table where retirement is always on the menu.

More coming soon…
